DTLA Cats

Building a safer, healthier future for DTLA's cats.

DTLA Cats is a resident-led effort helping the cats of Downtown Los Angeles through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), rescue, and community care.

By humanely trapping outdoor cats, getting them spayed or neutered, and returning them to their neighborhoods, DTLA Cats helps reduce overpopulation, shelter intake, and euthanasia. When cats or kittens are better suited for indoor life, the group also works to rescue, foster, and find them loving homes. Powered by local volunteers, fosters, adopters, and donors, DTLA Cats is building a safer, healthier future for DTLA's cats.

How TNR Helps DTLA's Cats

Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is a humane way to care for community cats while reducing overpopulation over time.

  1. 1

    Trap

Outdoor cats are safely and humanely trapped by experienced volunteers.

  2. 2

    Neuter

They're spayed or neutered and receive appropriate veterinary care before being released.

  3. 3

    Return

Healthy community cats are returned to the neighborhoods they know, while friendly cats and kittens better suited for indoor life may be rescued and placed in foster or adoptive homes.

Why it matters: TNR helps reduce the number of unwanted litters, lowers shelter intake, and gives DTLA's community cats a healthier future.
